Bankruptcy

Bankruptcy as a solution

A person’s finances can change dramatically in today’s world. The financial security you once had can disappear and the bills you once paid, can pile into a mountain that looks impossible to overcome. Changes in family structure, health or employment can also deepen the impact of financial troubles.

You are not alone. We can help those in central Wisconsin get a fresh start on their finances through the US Bankruptcy Court. We are a debt relief agency and help clients file bankruptcy under the US Bankruptcy Code. Only a debt relief agency, such as a bankruptcy attorney, can eliminate all of your debts with the exception of certain financial obligations to the government.

Once you properly file for bankruptcy, the phone calls from your creditors are required to stop. Bankruptcy also eliminates, halts, or ‘stays’ wage garnishments, collections, repossessions and mortgage foreclosures.

We invite you to submit basic information, through our secure forms using our step-by-step bankruptcy service. In fact, you can take the first step right now by submitting an inquiry directly to our office.

Chapter 7

A successful chapter 7 bankruptcy can eliminate or ‘discharge’ most of your debts permanently. Most people are allowed to keep the house, clothing, car and other possessions, which are ‘exempt’ from the bankruptcy estate.

Chapter 13

A successful chapter 13 bankruptcy sets up a payment plan whereby you pay a percentage of your debts over time. A chapter 13 is used when you cannot qualify for a Chapter 7 bankruptcy based on your income and living expenses (the ‘means test.’) A Chapter 13 is also used to structure a plan when the value of the equity in your house, or car, exceed the statutory exemption.

Let us handle the details

Which chapter is right for you? After analyzing your situation, we can run the ‘means test’ for you to see which chapter you should file under. In some instances we may suggest you not file for bankruptcy and provide you with alternatives in dealing with your finances.

Before you file, you will be required to attend a financial management course and debt counseling. We’ll make sure everything is in order to assure your best chances for permanent debt relief.
